France 2010 - Le Treport

We headed onward towards our final French destination of Le Tréport.  We found the Hotel Calais quite easily right in the town centre next door to the Church.  It was very colourful and looked as if it was in the process of being renovated by the new Eastern European owners.  We were shown to our room which was very nice and just as colourful on the inside.  Not knowing what to expect, we headed out into the town to investigate.

Le Tréport can only be described as a French Blackpool.  It is a fishing port with plenty of seagulls which I hadn’t seen or heard since leaving Folkstone.  The seafront was lined with shops selling candy floss and sweets and the inevitable French churros which Rhi had to sample.  Most of the restaurants were selling seafood which was a bit unfortunate for us as we don’t like seafood or fish.  We eventually found a restaurant which was very prettily decorated with colourful carpets and everywhere sprinkled with glitter.  Service was very slow and the waitress kept disappearing for a long time.  Eventually we got some chicken and chips which was a bit dry and dull but ok.

Travelling North - Sea front at Le Treport
Once we had been fed we headed back to the hotel for a good night sleep ready for the final leg of our journey.
